Fun in the Sun at the Skokie Spring Greening

The car on display at the Skokie Spring Greening

We went to our first outreach of the quarter this past weekend at Niles North High School as part of the Skokie Spring Greening event. The car attracted a lot of attention from people young and old. We talked to people about everything from the basics of solar energy to the details of our electrical system and the races we participate in. We brought examples of our solar cells and wheels that allowed people to get more of a hands on feel for the car. Education and outreach is an important part of our mission – we don’t just build solar cars, we want to raise awareness about new green technology.

The weather was perfect to be outside with the car. The temperature was about 80 degrees, and we were even able to use the bright sun to charge the car.

We’ll be having more outreach events like this one as the spring rolls on, so stay tuned for more chances to come meet us around the Chicago area!
