Tomorrow is the final day of the Formula Sun Grand Prix, and it looks like we’re in for a dramatic finish. After a successful scrutineering process and two days of racing, NUsolar stands in second place only 30 laps behind the lead. We’re also part of a fierce battle for second, holding only a two lap lead over the third place team going into the final day (complete standings can be seen here). We’ve had a very successful run so far, with no major mechanical failures or electrical bugs.
There appear to be clouds moving into the area, so our new upgraded telemetry system will play a crucial role in helping us get the most out of the car before the race ends at 5pm Eastern Time. We’ll be able to adapt our strategy in real time based on the amount of energy we’re getting from the sun. Hopefully a combination of good planning, skillful driving and reliability will lead us to a top finish in Indianapolis.
